Song Meaning of “Devour” by Insult
“Devour” is a song about an unsteady relationship. The narrator is pleading to their partner, asking for a departure from constant fighting and bickering. The chorus of the song is a reflection of the stalled energy of the relationship; while the speakers hold deep affection for one another, their problems are preventing the relationship from truly evolving and deepening. The narrator is desperately trying to convey their need to take a step back and refocus on what matters – each other. Although they want to break these patterns of dysfunction, they fear that the deterioration of the relationship will overwhelm and devour it.
