Song Meaning of “Bearing Witness” by Ghostlimb
Bearing Witness is an anthem for the little person, the everyman, in an effort to understand and empathize with each other in spite of our differences. It encourages us to not only have compassion for the struggles we all face in life, but also to make a stand and use our voices to fight for those who can’t speak (or are not being listened to). The chorus, “Let us bear witness to all that we do,” exhorts us to hold space for those who are not being heard, while also opening our eyes to injustice and inequality so we can take action. The words “Set it free, let go, and set it right,” signify the need to address systemic problems and use our collective strength to make amends.
