Song Meaning of “All We Love We Leave Behind” by Converge
This song is about the inevitability of death, and how one must accept the harsh reality that, no matter what we gain in life, all of our accomplishments, love, and memories will eventually be left behind. As much as we would love to keep them with us, our lives are finite and death will come for us eventually. The chorus points to this with the line “All we love we leave behind” – speaking to the fact that everything we hold dear will eventually be gone. The lyrics also touch on the idea of legacy and trying to leave something behind that will live on after our own life is over – “Because I feel, that life is worth less, than the love that I’ve been placed here to give.” The song speaks to the idea of making sure that all the love that we have is shared and felt, and that it will go on after we are gone.
