Song Meaning of “The Lunatic” by Forensick
The Lunatic by Forensick tells the story of a person labeled as a ‘lunatic’ by society, despite their struggles being entirely human. The chorus reflects the amount of judgement and misunderstanding that this person has faced in their life:
“You called me the lunatic, living in a dream
Living in a world that’s so cold and so mean
Living in this chaos with no signs of relief
You said I’m the lunatic, solitary, incomplete”
The verses of the song describe the pain that the individual experiences, overwhelmed by the rest of the world. It’s a plea for understanding and more importanly self-understanding. There’s also a hint of defiance against being labeled and written off by the ‘normal’ people:
“It’s a game on the edge, a game that I can’t win
But I won’t give in
I won’t let them bring me down, I will stay alive and proud”
The song ultimately speaks to those who have ever felt like the ‘other’ or as if they were on the outside looking in. The message is to not give in to the judgement and to keep true to yourself despite what society may call you.
