Veselye ochi, or “Merry Eyes,” tells the story of an unrequited love. A man and woman share loving glances, but they do not take those glances any further. The man’s longing to experience more with the woman can be heard in the song’s melancholic lyrics.
Through the perspective of the man, the song paints a vivid picture of a potential love affair that will never be. He watches her with eagerness as she passes by, admiring her beautiful heart-shaped eyes that seem to twinkle in his presence.
