Song Meaning of “Solo Queda” by Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey
‘Solo Queda’ portrays a story of heartbreak and the pain it brings. At the beginning of the song, the narrator reflects on a relationship that once seemed so perfect yet has come to an end. He sees all the beauty that surrounded them, but sadly, all that is left is hindsight of what they used to be. He realizes that love is a bittersweet emotion with its highs and lows, and he is left lonesome deep in his soul wishing they had stayed together.
The narrator then speaks of giving all he has to try and save their relationship, yet the other persons heart is far away. Feeling defeated, he is overcome with guilt of the possibility of not being enough for them. Again, all that is left are the memories of all they used to be and the pain that lingers inside him.
The chorus of ‘Solo Queda’ then dives into the somber feelings of emptiness, loneliness, and helplessness that comes with a break up. He is left looking back and doing it all alone, wishing he could bring back the love they once so easily had. Though the narrator comes to terms with his experience, he is still left with a longing for what could have been.
