Charnel’s Ball tells a story of a woman who visits a dark and mysterious place, fueled by her desperation. She goes alone, making her way through a twisted forest as her heart races in fear and anticipation of what lies ahead. The darkness deepens with each step, and as she arrives at the entrance of the Charnel’s Ball, she can feel the shadows closing in around her.
Inside the Charnel’s Ball is a gathering of the dead, come to party in the night. The woman sees them in all their spectral glory, eternally dancing the macabre and seemingly having the time of their afterlife. Though both frightened and mesmerized, she joins them in the macabre revelry and wallows in the dark pleasure of letting go of earthly life and its many struggles.
In the end, the woman is left with a bittersweet feeling as she realizes that her time in this twisted world is limited. Soon, she must depart and leave these resurrected souls to go back to the lives they once led, leaving her alone to drift in the shadows between worlds. Though the Charnel’s Ball has served as a strange and otherworldly escape, it only brings temporary solace and she must ultimately face her life once more.
