Song Meaning of “Fading” by Matt Moore
“Fading” by Matt Moore is a melancholic reflection on the loss of a cherished relationship. Throughout the song, Moore describes the fading of the connection that he once shared with the person of his affection.
The beginning of the song speaks of the inevitability of parting ways with a person he loves – “We used to float, the way that time won’t wait for us/And now our colors just fade out.” The metaphor he uses here is that of two colors mixing and eventually fading until the original colors are unrecognizable.
