Song Meaning of “Nirole” by Mustafa
Verse 1:
I’ve been working hard all my life
But still I never got no satisfaction
I feel like I’m living in a prison
Where the only way out is a tiny fraction
Interpretation:
In this opening verse of Mustafa’s song ‘Nirole’, Mustafa paints a picture of his everyday life- working hard but feeling as though he is getting no satisfaction form his efforts. He feels trapped and confined like he is stuck in a prison, and the only way out is a tiny fraction of hope.
Chorus:
No matter how hard I try
It’s just not enough to make me fly
Nice try, but no cigar, and it’s not fair
I wish tonight I could be anywhere
Interpretation:
Mustafa continues to talk about his struggles in this chorus, as he acknowledges that no matter how much he tries it is still not enough to elevate him out of his present situation. He feels deflated and believes that he is being cheated of what he deserves. At night he wishes to be anywhere else, in a place full of opportunity and hope.
