Song Meaning of “Two Young People” by Onetox
Two Young People takes us on a love story between two teenagers who are consumed by the recklessness of young love. Both of them unable to resist the temptation of each other’s hearts, they remain spiraling into each other’s arms deeper and deeper. Even though they know their relationship might not last forever, they’re too infatuated to care.
The chorus reflects this idea of recklessness by saying, “we gonna fly so free / like birds in the sky / searching for love as we spend the night.” The freedom they feel being so young and carefree is contrasted with the apprehension of not knowing what their future holds.
The bridge brings together the thematic threads of the chorus by saying, “we gonna glide away/ in the heat of the night/ taking in the world/ but still looking for each other.” This hints at a naivety towards the harsh reality that their love isn’t guaranteed to last. But in spite of this, they attempt to make the most out of every moment they have together in the “heat of the night”.
